FAQ 18

Calibration typically refers to the process of verifying and

adjusting the precision of measurement devices.

At Kitronyx, calibration is further defined as the method of converting digital values output

in response to force into absolute force and pressure readings.

The calibration of film-type FSR sensors involves two main steps:

Gain Tuning, which corrects deviations in individual nodes,

and Fine Tuning, which measures pressure.

The recommended operating temperature for the sensor is room temperature (23±5°C).

Using the sensor above this temperature range may result in decreased measurement accuracy and potential damage to the sensor.

The pressure range varies by product, so please refer to the detailed product pages for specific information.

If you need to use pressure outside the specified range, we can adjust the product through customization.

Please contact our sales team for assistance.

If pressed with a soft object like a hand at a pressure of 1 kgf/cm², the sensor's lifespan is over 50,000 times.

When pressed with a metal object at a pressure of 10 kgf/cm², the approximate lifespan of the sensor is between 500 to 1,000 times.

* The number of uses may vary depending on the usage environment (pressure conditions, shape, etc.)

The main reason for sensor damage is not exceeding the number of uses,

but rather carelessness such as external damage due to improper usage methods and storage management.

Our sensors are of the film type and can be bent for use.

However, noise may occur depending on the degree of curvature, so testing is required to confirm applicability.

This phenomenon is due to the viscoelastic properties of the material composing the sensor,

causing the output value to change over time under the same pressure.

Because of this characteristic, we recommend performing measurements within a short period (up to 5 minutes) for more precise results.

For more detailed information, please refer to the following content.

Kitronyx’s Film-type sensors are FSR (Force Sensing Resistor) sensors.

When pressure is applied to the sensor, the conductive particles come closer together, reducing the resistance.

The principle involves converting the resistance change in the sensor into a digital signal via a controller, which outputs ADC values in the software.

Additionally, FSR sensors are classified into shunt mode and thru mode based on the pattern.

After connecting the sensor to be inspected with the controller and PC,

select the accumulation mode in the real-time analysis window.

By pressing the sensor in an X-shape as shown in the image below,

you can check for any defects by verifying if the output is consistent in the same direction and if there are no missing parts.
