A simple wireless pressure mapping system is implemented using Kitronyx Snowboard 2. Snowboard 2 is a low cost data acquisition electronics for FSR matrix sensors and able to work as a Arduino shield. In this demo, Snowboard 2 is combined with Arduino Uno and Bluetooth shield to send pressure mapping data to an Android smartphone in which a custom built app visualizes the pressure mapping data.

In this video, we demonstrate pressure mapping while a user sits on a chair using Kitronyx entry level pressure mapping solution MP2509. This product is suitable for developing pressure mapping system for seating. We posted smart sensor insole demo previously with low profile visualization. In this demo, we upgraded the visualization performance of our software (Snowforce 3). Smart sensor insoles are configured inside shoes and foot pressure data is gathered by Snowboard 2 data acquisition electronics. This body pressure mapping data was acquired by Kitronyx pressure distribution measurement solution. In order to build a large intelligent sensor mat, we used eight MS9705 FSR matrix sensors and eight MC1600 data acquisition electronics. Total size of sensor is about 1,536 mm x 768 mm and sensor resolution is 192 x96. Prof. S. Y Heo at College of Veterinary Medicine, Chonbuk National University applied Kitronyx MC1509 data acquisition electronics and MS9706 fine pitch FSR matrix sensor for capture surface pressure between animal joints.
This thin fine pitch MS9706 sensor provides qualified data and analysis of joint function. Kitronyx thin film pressure sensors are available in various sizes, and configurations for versatility and ease of use. The combination of MC1509 and MS9706 gives pressure mapping and contact area between adjacent articulating bones for better understanding of their operation. Note: MC1509 has been discontinued and replaced with MC1600. |
